GuitarTown Committee Seeking Approval of Murals from Plan Commission
Tonight the Waukesha GuitarTown committee will be presenting conceptual drawings (below) of murals to the Plan Commission for final approval. The meeting is being held at 6:30pm in the City of Waukesha Council Chambers. The murals have already been approved by Waukesha’s Public Art Committee at their Monday, April 15th meeting. This is the last step in the process to get the project underway. The approval is for the first five painted wall murals which are a part of Waukesha’s Gibson GuitarTown project for 2013.
GuitarTown Murals
The murals are the first in a series that the GuitarTown project has planned for 2013. The murals will focus on Les Paul and the history of Waukesha. They are being done by the nationally acclaimed Wall Dogs, who have done many projects around the United States. Nearby samples of their work can be viewed as close by as Plymouth, Wisconsin. The five walls selected for GuitarTown 2013 are all in Downtown Waukesha and will become a part of the fabric of the downtown – just like 10-foot tall guitars that are currently on display on Waukesha GuitarTown’s Walking Tour.
Gibson Guitar Corporation has chosen Waukesha, the birth and resting place of Les Paul, and inventor of the solid body electric guitar, for an encore of its nationally acclaimed GuitarTown public arts project. This year Waukesha GuitarTown has launched two new initiatives as a part of their 2013 project: the murals that are being added to the downtown and the educational component that has been developed with educational institutions in Waukesha.
Educational Component
Students in the Waukesha School District from North and West High Schools, Central Middle School, Saratoga Stem School and La Casa de Esperanza will paint some of the 10-foot tall guitars as part of our encore project. Students from Butler Middle School will paint 3 playable guitars, while students from the Waukesha Catholic School System – St. Joseph campus, will paint another one of the playable Les Paul guitars.
This year the Waukesha GuitarTown project will add 15 more ten-foot fiberglass guitars to the 10 guitars that are already completed and on display. This will bring the total of giant, 10-foot guitars to 25. These and the smaller playable guitars will be featured on the Downtown Waukesha Guitar Walking Tour pick, which will be available at numerous locations for the public.
Waukesha GuitarTown 2013 builds on the momentum of last year and will continue to unite area businesses with the community in an effort to celebrate its cultural contributions. It is an initiative that aims to help Waukesha achieve the goal of becoming the best small city in the United States

Grand Renaming Celebration of Five Diamonds Next Weekend
For anyone who has driven by the 5 Diamonds ball park on the Les Paul Parkway since the end of March, you may have noticed something different about the ball diamond? If you guessed the enormous sign out front that reads “Infinity Fields”, you know what I am talking about.
Five Diamonds Fields has been renamed Infinity Fields under an agreement between Five Diamonds, Inc., and Infinity Exteriors; a roofing and home improvement contractor located across from the WalMart Super Center at 1921 S. West Avenue. 5 Diamonds still owns the ball park, but Infinity has sponsored the ball park for naming rights for a couple of seasons.
Hebron House Benefit
To commemorate the new name of the ball park there will be a celebration and benefit for the Hebron House that is being held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.
