A couple of months ago the Dirtstrippers Car Wash at 1649 Arcadian Avenue on Waukesha’s east side stopped being a functional car wash. As days and weeks passed, garbage started overflowing with piled up and trash, and the “Open” sign was no longer on. It was a little hard to tell what was going on with the business as customers came and left the business with their dirty cars. Were they out of business? Was the owner out of town and just behind with necessary maintenance?
The official news is that Dirtstrippers on Arcadian has gone out of business. According to Waukesha County tax records, Dirtstrippers owes $52,744 in property taxes that have gone unpaid over the past three years. Apparently the car wash has been abandoned and is now owned by a bank.
Online research shows that the Waukesha business “Dirtstrippers” otherwise known as Scrubb Express, Inc., has a registered by the name of Michael A. Hurley of 13370 W. Maple Ridge Road, New Berlin , WI 53151..
In 2010 both Hurley and his wife filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition which included the following business names: “Dirtstripper, fdba CMC Enterprises, Ltd., dba Dirtstripper Touchless, fdba Hurley Properties, LLC, dba Dirt Stripper Car Wash, fdba CMC Laundry, Ltd., fdba CMC Enterprises of Princeton, Ltd., dba Oshkosh Maytag Coin Laundry”. Apparently Michael Hurley operated the Waukesha Dirtstrippers in spite of these recent financial hardships.
According to WaukeshaNow.Com the bank recently hired Ogden & Company, Inc. to manage the property, said Marsha McNeil of Ogden’s commercial real estate management division. Very soon Ogden & Company employees will work to clean the property up. Unfortunately, however, the many area residents who had purchased prepaid car wash coupon books for future car washes will be out their investment.Share this post via:
