The City of Waukesha police, along with the Waukesha Sheriff’s Department and the Milwaukee Sheriff’s Bomb Squad were called to an area near St. Paul Avenue and Kensington Drive in the city of Waukesha for about four hours Tuesday night, where the neighborhood was evacuated while law enforcement officials investigated a potential explosive device.
Waukesha police say they received a call a little after 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, from the friend of a 35-year-old Waukesha man who was suicidal, saying the man had a gun. When officers responded to the area, they saw the man walking along the road, and police made contact with him from a distance. They said it appeared he fatally shot himself. Police say as the man fell to the ground, a package fell from the man and dropped to the ground. Police said they were concerned it was an explosive device because the man’s friend expressed to them that the man had an interest in improvised explosive devices.
A police news release says a bomb squad used a robot to pick up and detonate the device around 11:45 p.m. CST Tuesday.Share this post via:
