Today, to kick-off the weekend the 2012 Waukesha County Fair continues with lots of action-packed fun and entertainment for everyone.
Pancake Breakfast and Fun Run
Saturday is the day to get your run on, but first you should get some breakfast, or maybe you chose to eat after you run? In either case, be certain to get to the fair early and have a special breakfast at the Leinie Lodge where the Kiwanis pancake breakfast will be served from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The $6 All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast tradition was originally started to feed young 4-Hers who spent the night in the barns with their animals. However, over the course of the past 35 years the Pancake Breakfast has grown to become one of the Club’s major fundraisers, serving over one thousand hungry fair-goers each year.
Starting at 8 a.m. the events begin with the “Til the Cows Come Home” Fun Run/Walk & Awards, which is sponsored by Lake FM. Challenge yourself to a 5K (3.1 mile) run or 2-mile walk around the perimeter of the Waukesha County Fairgrounds. See the official County Fair Website for details and registration info.
General Admission, Specials and Events
The fair opens Saturday at 10 a.m. and lasts until midnight.
Specials and Gate Prices include “Unlimited rides” wristband for $20 from noon to 5 p.m.
Saturday is also Potawatomi Day, and the first 5,000 guests over the age of 21 will receive a special slot offer today.
There’s nothing like watching trucks and cars – and even minivans – get smashed to pieces during the 2012 Waukesha County Fair Demolition Derby.
Today the demo derby starts at 1 p.m. at the Action Center, which is on the Northwest end of the fair grounds on the north side of the Miller Lite Main Stage.
Cinderella on the Main State at 8 p.m.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album “Night Songs” with this summer’s tour, Cinderella formed in 1982 by singer/songwriter/guitarist/keyboardist Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham. An American heavy metal band from Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania, Cinderella got its big break when Jon Bon Jovi saw them perform and recommended that his rep see them.
The band has sold 20 million albums worldwide, and they have performed alongside bands like Ozzy Osborne, Motley Crue and Skid Row.
